When it comes to making healthy food choices, it’s becoming harder and harder to find real food. The food industry has drastically changed the way foods are not only processed, but how they are grown as well. The advances in science and technology have led to major changes in the food industry that has taken place over just the last several decades. Genetic modification is the biggest reason for all of the changes. Genetic modification is when a gene from one animal or plant is modified by adding a gene from another animal or plant. With genetic modification, the food industry alters the foods in such a way so that the foods grow bigger, faster and in less space. There is so much genetically modified corn that growers are looking for other uses for corn products. One way to use up the abundance of corn is to feed it to cows, even though corn is extremely difficult for cows to digest and can lead them to developing acidosis. Genetically modified produce may have been modified with a component of a spider that makes it lethal to insect larvae, essentially this means the plant was created to produce it’s own pesticide.

If you are like me, you wonder how these things will affect our environment, our health and our future generations. Because of the genetic modification taking place not only in our foods but also the foods of the animals that we eat, I personally have decided that only a diet of natural foods is best for me and my family. We love meats and vegetables so I like to use recipes that are specifically made for Paleo diet. This way I know that the ingredients called for in Paleo Diet Recipes will be ingredients that match my choice of diet.
